what we believe

Statement Of Faith

with Scripture Proofs

1. We believe the Bible in the Old and New Testaments as verbally inspired by God, inerrant in the original manuscripts and the final authority in faith and practice.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.  2 Timothy 3:16

2. We believe in one God, the Holy Trinity, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Matthew 28:18-19

Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.  Mark 12:29

3. We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is fully God and fully Man.

But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.  She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”  And this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).  Matthew 1:20-23

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.  1 John 1, 14

4. We believe that man was created in the image of God, sinned and incurred both the physical death and spiritual death, which is separation from God and that all human beings are sinners by nature and habit.

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.  And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”  Genesis 1:26

“But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”  Genesis 2:17

As it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God.  All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.”  Romans 3:10-12

5. We believe that Jesus died for our sins to satisfy divine justice, was buried and bodily rose from the dead according to the Scriptures.

Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.  Romans 5:9

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.  1 Corinthians 15:3

6. We believe that the death of Jesus Christ, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice is for all who believe in Him by faith and are justified by grace alone on the basis of His shed blood, and are eternally preserved through the present ministries of our risen, ascended, glorified Lord Jesus Christ and of the Holy Spirit.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16

My sheep hear my voice, and I k now them, and they follow me.  I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.  My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.  John 10:27-29

7. We believe that all who receive by faith Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord are born again of, and indwelt by, the Holy Spirit and, thereby, become the children of God who walk in utter dependence upon the Holy Spirit.

Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”  John 3:3

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him.  You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.  John 14:16-17

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.  Galatians 5:16

8. We believe in the personal return of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ and in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the just, and the everlasting punishment of the unjust.

Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.  Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.  Matthew 25:34, 41

For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God.  And the dead in Christ will rise first.  1 Thessalonians 4:16

9. We believe that the Church, composed of all those who truly believe by faith on Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord make up the Body and Bride of Christ and that Jesus is head of the Body, the church and that all believers are baptized into the Body and having thus become members of one another, are responsible to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church.  Ephesians 1:22

For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.  For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.  1 Corinthians 12:12-13

Eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.  Ephesians 4:4

10.  Additionally, we are committed to the Westminster Confession and to historic Christianity.
